Decided to give Pilates a try to tone up a bit. I normally just like to walk and climb stairs but I felt like my body needed more than that to tone up. I signed up for the special 3 private sessions for new clients for $107 and have had 2 sessions so far with Joni. Her instructions are so thorough and she has made it easy for me to understand each movement, the hour goes by fast. I highly recommend this studio, the only thing I have to ignore is the 21 Choices Frozen Yogurt across the street, lol.

My back had been hurting for over 5 years due to herniated discs. I have had back surgery, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, physical therapy, yoga and even Pilates in a group environment, all to no avail. Needless to say, I was not in a good place physically or mentally. I went from being an avid martial artist, tennis player and active person to someone who was having a hard time walking some days. I was falling into depression often and was almost ready to give up. My friend said I needed to find a good Pilates place that would customize my workouts to suit my needs specifically. So I called around and finally spoke with Joni Iqal at Sanctuary Pilates. She spoke with me for about 45 minutes asking me questions about my injuries and explaining to me what they do at Sanctuary. I immediately felt comfortable with her and felt like there was hope for me. I have been going to Sanctuary for a few months now and I can honestly say it has changed my life. I am in very little pain and can do activities I haven’t been able to do in years! My quality of life is so much better now!! I am forever grateful to Joni and all my instructors at Sanctuary Pilates (Sharon, Peter, and Stephanie) and I will continue coming to class for the rest of my life!
Why is it that every time I look forward to another Pilates session? Why flying to California from Paris was your Pilates studio the main attraction of course outside of visiting my grandson?
The answer lies in the moral, physical effects, and the very pleasant atmosphere of the studio. And all this could not happen without your patient and smiling expertise and in the studio Joni’s warm greetings and everyone’s welcome.
As an 80-year-old man, I arrived in Claremont quite depressed and physically in very bad shape.
The positive moral effects were the fastest with the pleasure of taking control of my body and forcing the mind to be here and now and not to dwell on the past without rest. It is concentrating on life itself. The body now is much stronger, spectacular improvements everywhere notably the abs and back muscles.
I am leaving for Paris and for a few days will not have to do the hundreds! Thank you.

Sharon is just amazing. Training with her has been an outstanding, priceless, and life-changing experience. After going through a tough divorce and having scoliosis my body and spirit were very weak. Her love for Pilates, talent, knowledge, patience, care, compassion, loyalty, encouragement, and expertise was essential for my recovery. She has made me so much stronger and healthier than ever. She motivated me to get STOTT certified and now I teach at one of Americas Healthiest Clubs in a 5 star Community in Naples, Florida! I feel truly blessed to have found Sharon in my journey. I will be always thankful for what she has done for me. I miss her every day.

Claremont Sanctuary Pilates is wonderful. Not only is the environment inviting…restful colors, plenty of light, spotlessly clean equipment, wall hangings, and even orchids but the instructors are knowledgeable as well. My instructor has attended sessions to learn the latest techniques to help her clients. She is now certified in dealing with lymphedema for breast cancer survivors. What dedication!
The atmosphere is positive, clients are pleasant, always exchanging a warm “Hello” and lasting friendships are made at Sanctuary.
This pilates studio has it all – the best instructors, equipment, and decor. I have been a pilates student for over 4 years and have worked out at 3 other studios so I know what I’m talking about. I always get a challenging workout and feel refreshed and relaxed when I’m done. The cost of classes is reasonable.
Pilates has truly transformed my life. I have severe arthritis in both knees and lower back issues and extremely overweight and did not think there was an exercise plan out there for me. The instructor proved me wrong. My first Pilates session, she had me moving for over 45 minutes, all pain-free. I am more flexible, my balance is better and my core strength has improved tremendously. With the instructor’s knowledge and expertise, she was able to adapt the exercises to meet my limitations and soon my limitations have lessened and I can not only do the more challenging exercises, but I am also able to lead my everyday life in less pain.

A couple of friends recommended Claremont Sanctuary Pilates in December. They previewed some of the principles and machines involved with “STOTT®” Pilates with me at that time. My wife and I agreed that this would be a good match for my physical and mental recovery to begin the first week of January. In looking back at my progress with STOTT® Pilates, I realize I was extremely weak throughout my body. I had lost considerable muscle from head to toe. My mental perception of my world was as weak as my physical limitations. It is only after committing several weeks of dedicated pilates that I began to see a marked improvement in my legs, stomach, and even now with my upper body and shoulders. I believe now I have increased my strength and flexibility further than before my bike accident. I feel more mentally and physically fit with the support and regiment of Claremont Sanctuary Pilates.
Sharon is a great Pilates instructor. She has helped me immensely. I have arthritis in my back and sciatica. I came to her looking much older than I was. My posture was very bad. I don’t have to take Motrin any longer. I stand up straight and feel much stronger.
Claremont Sanctuary Pilates offers more than just exercise. I have met many wonderful people from all walks of life within the studio. We shared classes, shared stories and shared lots of laughs. What a wonderful atmosphere…a safe haven in downtown Claremont!
